ODMHA & ODHA Position With Respect to Body Checking

Ottawa District Hockey Association (ODHA)
Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association (ODMHA)

The ODHA/ODMHA continues to promote and foster the sport of hockey through fair play and development based on age, skill level and competitiveness. This applies to both body checking and non body checking programs at the House League level. Member Minor Hockey Associations have the right to decide on the type of program they wish to offer taking into account the goals of improved skill development, safety and enjoyment, and the number of participants available to field a particular program. To this end, most Minor Hockey Associations provide non body checking programs while others may offer body checking on a limited basis at the House League level. The ODHA/ODMHA will continue to monitor these programs in order to ensure the expectations of its members and the goals of the Association are being fulfilled.
