Casselman-Embrun Ice Dogs Minor Bantam B win International Silver Stick
The Casselman-Embrun Minor Bantam IceDogs (2016-2017) are on top of the hockey world. The team went 2-2 in Round Robin play this past weekend (Jan. 12-15, 2017) and qualified for the playoffs. It was a hard battle in the semis going into the 8th period of OT, however, the IceDogs prevailed and defeated the highly favourite Woodstock JR Navy Vets, a strong and now rated “AA” team, which only allowed 1 goal in the 4 games of round-robin play, to therefafter win over a team that had previously beat them in the round-robin in order to be crowned the winners in the Finals to become the 1st ever HEO-Minor - District 3 Rep-B team to win an International Silver Stick Final Championship.
After capturing the Regional Northumberland, ON (Cobourg) title in early December 2016, the Ice Dogs qualified for the Newmarket International SS Finals for January 2017.
This past Thursday, the group of players, coaches, parents and siblings started their trek to Newmarket with one united goal - to win this International tournament.

Game 2: W (2-1) – Halton Hills Thunder A (22-14-6);
Game 3: W (3-0) – Newmarket Redmen A (Host);
Game 4: L (3-4) – Aurora Tigers A (23-8-10);
Game 5 (Semi-Final): W (2-1) (8OT)– Woodstock JR Navy Jets AA (29-4-5);
Game 6 (Final): W (2-1) – Barrie Colts A (37-4-5).
Congratulations to the Coaching staff for their hard work, implication and dedication. The team, not only did they work hard on the ice but their determination, teamwork and sportsmanship were also unparalleled.
On a special note, the Casselman-Embrun IceDogs team name will be displayed on the Original Silver Stick located in the Canada Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto this summer.
